The Fotona 4D Facelift is a laser treatment that uses the Fotona SP Dynamis system, a dual-wavelength platform combining Er:YAG and Nd:YAG laser energy. The "4D" refers to the four distinct treatment modes applied sequentially in a single session, each targeting a different layer of facial tissue.
This layered approach is what makes Fotona 4D unique. Rather than treating the surface alone, or injecting volume at a single depth, it works from the inside out, addressing the full spectrum of age-related change that occurs throughout the face.
The Four Modes Explained
1. SmoothLiftin (Inside the Mouth)
The first mode is delivered intraorally: the applicator is placed inside the mouth and directed at the mucosal tissue lining the cheeks. The Er:YAG laser energy heats this tissue gently, causing immediate collagen contraction and stimulating new collagen formation in the deeper structural layers of the lower face. This "shrink-wrapping" effect addresses jowling, nasolabial folds, and facial laxity without any external incision or injection.
2. FRAC3 (Deep Dermal)
The second mode uses Nd:YAG energy in a fractional pattern to target pigmentation, vascular irregularities, and textural concerns within the deep dermis. This phase addresses skin quality concerns, uneven tone, broken capillaries, and the diffuse redness or discolouration that accumulates with age and sun exposure.
3. PIANO (Bulk Tissue Heating)
The third mode delivers sustained, controlled heating across the full thickness of the skin, from the surface down to the subcutaneous tissue. What Results Can You Expect?
Results from Fotona 4D are progressive. The initial collagen contraction from the SmoothLiftin mode produces some visible tightening in the first few days. Over the following weeks and months, as new collagen is synthesised, clients experience continued improvement in firmness, skin quality, and overall facial definition.
Most clients see their best results between six and twelve weeks post-treatment, with improvements continuing to develop beyond that point. A course of treatments, typically two to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, produces the most pronounced and lasting outcomes, though many clients report visible change after a single session.
